RSVP to Unplugged on The Front Porch w/ Radney Foster
|General Admission (Suggested Donation)||30.00||918|
Join us this fall in one of Austin's most intimate listening rooms—the Sanctuary at All Saints' Episcopal Church—as we welcome country music legend, Radney Foster, to the Unplugged on the Front Porch stage. Make your donation and get your tickets while you can: those who know Unplugged will jump on this chance to hear Radney up-close-and-personal in our unique venue. And those who haven't caught Radney in Austin for a while will be turning out, too: we're the Nashville resident's only Austin stop on this tour.
Radney Foster learned to play guitar from his father, who was a lawyer. After graduating high school in Del Rio, he attended Sewanee, but dropped out in order to pursue a music career in Nashville (he completed his degree later). First as a member of the duo Foster and Lloyd (with Bill Lloyd), and then as a solo artist, Foster has released a total of 11 albums since 1985, as well as number of hit singles. Most notably, Foster's 1992 hits, "Nobody Wins" and "Just Call Me Lonesome" reached no. 2 and no. 10 in the US charts, respectively.
Most recently, a bout of sickness caused Radney to explore a new frontier in storytelling. His latest project, For You To See The Stars, is both a book and an album. The book is a collection of short stories inspired by imagery both in Texas and across the south, and each story pairs with a track on the album. As expected, it's really, really good stuff.
Of course, as a songwriter, Radney's songs have been covered by a long list of country music royalty that includes The Dixie Chicks, Keith Urban, Luke Bryan, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and many others. Foster also starred in Troubadour, the country musical, at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta. In addition, he hosts the music anthology series "Crossroads" on CMT. He lives in Nashville with his wife Cyndi and three children, Julien, Jackson, and Maureen.
About Unplugged on The Front Porch
The mission statement for Unplugged on the Front Porch, a quarterly nonprofit music series in downtown Austin, is two-fold. On one hand, we want to offer an intimate listening room for Austin’s music appreciators to meet and engage with our city’s troubadours and virtuosos. On the other, we insist on providing the artists who perform with a living wage in the spirit of patronism. Our desire here is that everybody wins. Past artists for Unplugged include Israel Nash, Mother Falcon, Ray Benson, Slaid Cleaves, Sam Baker, Erin Ivey, Matt the Electrician, Danny Schmidt, Carrie Elkin, and many more.
Free parking will be available on a first come, first serve basis in the parking lot directly adjacent to All Saints' Episcopal Church. Once the church lot fills up, overflow parking will be available in the parking garage across the street, directly East of the church campus. If you must park in the garage, bring in your ticket! We will validate it for a discounted rate of only $2.
The suggested donation for this event is $30 per person. Kids 15 and under are admitted for free, and nobody is turned away for not being able to pay.
